James mentions the pre-Blog Awards tech event being planned. I’ve handed over planning of this to Bernie or rather I suggested it to him that he do it and I legged it. The plan is that the geeks have a small tech event talking about a few things. James will talk OPML and feedgrazing, John Handelaar will talk about his Fax My TD/Vocal Voter project and someone from Microsoft will present IE7 and RSS integration. Bernie will line up one or two more people as well. Hopefully there’ll be a wiki up where people can register to go. I doubt I’ll be able to make it as I have the Awards themselves to play with.
Time will be 1500-1700. Location yet to be decided though it could be in or near the Alexander Hotel as the Blog Awards are moving there.
EDIT: Thatgirl suggests a more social get together for the non-techy people before the Awards. Having half the audience drunk will give it an authentic Jerry Springer feel. Nooooo!
mm if all that tech porn is going on in the locality it may be necessary to gather the rest of the blog community for some social networking in the Gingerbread Man…
Congratulations you just nominated yourself into an organiser of that event. Do remember though that a lot of pubs are going to be packed due to the Ireland v Scotland rugby match.
Hey if all you tech nerds show up high on whatever the tech equivalent of drugs are, then the rest of us lowly non tech types are going to need some kind of social lubricant in order to understand you. I’ll have you know I speak fluent geek after two vodka martinis ๐
PS: I prefer to think of us as the pro social networking contingent, as distinct from the non-techny contingent. Thank you…

Yeah, yeah, I know your real motivation is hitting the pub to hunt for men in kilts. ๐
Just like a certain Mr J. Roch
Oh can we bring guests we pick up in pubs an hour beforehand? I didn’t see a category for “casual company” at the blog awards ๐
I will start the tech session in The Gingerman so we have a pleasant balance during the afternoon’s events. I will be the one without a kilt.
