Askimet – 3,317 spams stopped

Installed almost exactly 24 hours ago and askimet has stopped 3,317 spams. God bless it. For some reason my spams went from 100 a day to 1000 a day and now see how many I’m getting!

    I had the same problem and although Akismet is great, you still have to delete it. I added the “Bad Behaviour” plugin last week and now the amount of spam Akismet catches is virtually non existant (down from 100 to 200 per day).

    “Bad Behavior was designed and built by watching actual spambots which harvested email addresses, posted comment spam, and used fake referrers. By logging their entire HTTP requests and comparing them to HTTP requests of legitimate users, it is possible to detect most spambots. Bad Behavior blocks spambots with a 412 error. “

    What about using a captcha? That should kill all but the human entered spam.
