That banned Trocaire Ad – Can’t we get it online?

Please? It isn’t that difficult these days is it?

Edit: Thanks Squid!

  1. We’re thinking about upchanneling the advertisement into podcasts that reach American satellite radio listeners on St Patrick’s Day. If that’s your niche, check out the audio clip at http://podcasting.ie/snippets/trocaire.mp3

Why was it banned – I obviously missed this story…

  3. dino says:

damo your time is off by one hour it is now 17:59..

  4. that girl says:

This ad was still running on Newstalk this morning..

  5. Barry says:

The ad is still running, it aired on RTE1 at about 7.35pm.

  6. Bernie, that’s my niche in the blogging format so I’ll drop the video in next week.

  7. The BCI ban only applies to commercial radio and TV. RTE don’t have a problem with it and it’s still running there (for the moment there’s different regulatory bodies for RTE and everyone else).

Surprised it was on Newstalk today though – they may just have been slow to pull it.

I like the advertisement. I read a great article [http://www.guardian.co.uk/g2/story/0,,2022818,00.html] on this issue recently. Something I was previously unaware of. Its very sad.

I know you have links in earlier comments, but this one is from the source, so to speak.

  10. Seamus says:

It’s a bit hypocritical of the Catholic church’s charity agency running an ad complaining about discrimination towards women.

Or is this the start of their push for a female pope?

  11. tipster says:

Hah. That’s not rela reform. It would need a married lesbian pope for me to believe they have really changed.

  12. MG says:

I’d say that a married lesbian pope won’t exist for a while yet. But isn’t that a bit like asking a rugby player to be captain on the soccer team?

  13. David Doran says:

I just saw it again on Channel 4, it’s a great ad and shouldn’t have been pulled.

  14. […] Lots of places have linked to the YouTube video of the original tv ad (eg Anthonymcg |Bloggorah | Damien Mulley | Duncan’s TV adland | IQblog | Lex Ferenda | Sigla (Sinéad Gleeson) | VoteTube | Zoomtard (with superb commentary)) and various places have audio of the original radio ad ( | Holy Shmoly (Donncha O’Caoimh) | Irish Eyes (Bernie Goldbach) | also here (mp3)).
