If you recently bought an iPhone or upgraded to 1.1.4 and are an o2 customer you might not realise that 1.1.4 has the settings for Edge built in and switched on. So basically you could unwittingly being forking out a fortune if you don’t have the 1Gig or 10Gig data option enabled on your account.
See, on a 1.1.4 firmware iPhone, you can’t get to the Edge settings under Settings/General/Network:
The solution is to install an app via Installer.app called Boss Prefs which will allow you to disable Edge:
Hi Damien, I tried your fix after forking out 60 euro on the first night of having my iphone, but when I try to install the application a pop up says:
Error Package download failed: untrusted server certificate!
I have tried accepting cookies etc. How do i fix this?

Sorry I fixed the problem it was to do with the WIFI provider and not the iPhone

This might work for O2 users but under vodafone, it turns it off but then back on again, it asks for the sim pin and then comes back on again… tried this and another application called Services, under utilities does same thing…

In Ireland with a jailbroken 1.1.4 iPhone. Have instaled the Bossprefs and I’ve Tried this. When I slide the EDGE switch to off, it will remain off but EDGE icon stays on screen. as soon as I exit the page it automatically switches itself back on again!! and EDGE is active. Can anyone help with this issue………please. )2 are crippling me with data payments, need to get this EDGE turned off
