Something.ie are thieving from bloggers.

See Suzy’s post on Something.ie ripping her off. They also rip off Politics In Ireland and were ripping off Limerick Blogger too and I think they’re stealing content from others too. Making money off the backs of people without respecting their IP is not on.

They have been doing it for months, I’ve remove3d hundreds of trackbacks from them from limerick blogger .org in the last couple of months.

I subscribed and noticed nothing but news from other Irish News sites so unsubscribed.

An attempt to give an example of a trackback from these guys seems to have been auto-binned by akismet.

Anyway, after receiving about ten or so of these trackback I just added something.ie to the list of blacklisted phrases.

Seems this crowd have done the same to one my recent posts:

  7. It doesn’t seem to be blatant ripping off. They’ve been taking my posts as well, but they only put up the first few lines, and it doesn’t really bother me too much.

If they took the entire post and re-published it, I’d be seriously pissed off, and I have attacked people in the past about such practices, but I wouldn’t consider this to be plagiarism at all.

  8. Maman Poulet says:

Nobody is saying it’s plagiarism Bock – it’s using content and attempting to build their site with the content of Irish blogs and my blog in particular for their commerical gain that I have a problem with.

  9. Fair enough. I’m not defending them. I’m just saying they haven’t done enough to make me get medieval on their ass (but that might change).

A few days ago Damien Mulley and Maman Poulet posted that Something.ie was stealing their content. I didn’t pay much attention at the time but at first glance it seemed like they were complaining about their RSS feed being syndicated. RSS feeds a…
